Difference between Organic and Inorganic Traffic

Traffic is a technical word used for describing 'visitors', people who visit your website or blog. These two terms may also be found in Google Analytics. Whether you own a website or blog or not, if you are a tech person, you should know that differences between the two. If you do own a blog or a website, it's a must-know thing for you.

Organic Traffic

This is more important between the two types of Traffics. Organic Traffic refer to those visitors who land on your website after clicking the link of your website listed on Search Engine Results after entering a specific query (or a set of keywords). These search engines can be Google, Bing, Yahoo, Baidu etc. This is often, the most important and biggest source of traffic.

Inorganic Traffic

Inorganic traffic refers to those visitors who visit your website or blog from an indirect source. These sources can be social media sites or through a friend. Some examples are:
  • Social media sites: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube
  • Traffic through Paid Ads: Google AdWords, Bing Ads, Infolinks Ads,. etc
  • Email content links: Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, Outlook,. etc
  • Traffic through affiliated marketing
